The press highlighted the human reflection in the personification of Yoyes. Ana Torrent's impeccable performance as the leading role in the film was also highlighted.

WHAT THE PRESS SAID...

HELENA TABERNA'S BOLD INITIATIVE. She has what it takes. A pair of... And that's where one can only vainly scour the lexicon in search of the exact term that defines the essence of Helena's feminine/masculine valor. The same valor that led her on a five-year adventure in the secret creation of a Spanish cinema great production: a deeply human story called "Yoyes", starring Ana Torrent. Dictated by unrationalized reason, intoxicated on a romantic, motherly and familiar air with the melancholy echo of the Gipuzkoa household, impregnated with the Slavic sadness that holds the Basque captive, political suspense, documentary and a portrait of generations. Yoyes is portrayed as a hard woman, although her hard character is not a result of a terrible recent past. Her myth is built not only as a film, but as the burning question, "Who killed her?" And the terrible answer is "We all killed her"." (Beatrice Sartori, LA LUNA, EL MUNDO newspaper)

THE NATIONAL PREMIÈRE OF "YOYES", BY HELENA TABERNA, OPENED THE LANZAROTE SCREENINGS YESTERDAY (Prensa CANARIA, December 17, 1999)

THE ACTRESS ANA TORRENT BRINGS A COMMITTED AND HUMAN YOYES TO LIFE (Rocío García, EL PAÍS, December 17, 1999)

A FILM RECREATES THE LIFE OF YOYES. The least we can say is that the film leaves hardly anything unsaid (...) The result is a bold, daring, sincere film (...) with emotional moments, especially those reflecting the dramatic family atmosphere of Dolores González in Ordizia (Borja Hermoso, EL MUNDO, December 17, 1999)

"'YOYES' IS THE MOST DIFFICULT CHARACTER THAT I HAVE EVER PLAYED," dice Ana Torrent (EL CORREO, December 17, 1999)

"YOYES" OPENS THE SPANISH SCREENINGS FOR EUROPE. ANA TORRENT PRESENTED YESTERDAY IN LANZAROTE HELENA TABERNA'S FIRST MAJOR PRODUCTION. The film depicts the ETA member Yoyes' human face as well as her militant side. (DIARIO SUR , 17 de diciembre de 1999)

THE DIRECTOR FROM NAVARRE HAS PRESENTED IN LANZAROTE HER OPERA PRIMA, A PRODUCTION THAT WILL HIT THE SCREENS IN THE UPCOMING MONTHS:
HELENA TABERNA has just finished her first full-length film, "Yoyes", a film about the ex ETA militant, assassinated by the organization. The Navarrese director is pleased with the results of her work, and is looking forward to the première. Her interest in out-of-the-ordinary characters brought her to Yoyes, a woman who she found especially fascinating for her commitment to changing the direction her life had taken, by fully exercising her right to freedom. (Alicia Ezker, DIARIO DE NOTICIAS, December 28, 1999)

"LOVERS OF FREEDOM WILL LOVE THIS FILM", Helena Taberna, director and co-writer of "Yoyes"
The film, which will arrive at theaters in February or March, will arouse passions and awaken curiosity. Helena Taberna, la "mother" of "Yoyes" the film, knows this, but that doesn't bother me. Completely sure of herself, she says that those who love freedom will love the film. (DIARIO DE NAVARRA, January 22, 2000)
